Research/Teaching Areas of Interest :

My work has focused on the creation of transnational intellectual relations between the West and the former imperial worlds, examining how, since the 19th century, the diffusion of Western ideas and knowledge on a global scale has led to the formation of both a shared and conflictual epistemic space. I have studied the networks involved in this process (primarily intellectual and student circulations) and analyzed the embedded logics that have led to the delegitimization of non-Western epistemological traditions, their replacement by European bodies of knowledge, and the contestation of the latter. Researching the globalization of Western knowledge, in this respect, also means taking into account the various moments that, from the so-called attempts to "decolonize science" to the affirmation of non-Western epistemologies with the rise of Asia in the 21st century, have seen the radical questioning of Western thought and science.

More recently, I have started two research projects with a focus on transnational issues. The first one, conducted with several colleagues, tackles the politics of raw materials. The aim is to follow and analyse the circulation of commodities such as oil, cotton or lithium, which are exchanged within a global political economy, on the assumption that they create specific forms of politics. To do so, we propose to research who are the actors (traders, warlords, peasant unionists, etc.), the technical devices (pipelines, tankers, data, etc.) and the power relations that make the politics of raw materials today (To access the online videos of the seminar "Commmodities Politics", click here). We also pay attention to the various forms of occult economies that have been built around raw materials : in this respect, my work offers an analysis of the political configurations that make it possible, within contemporary global capitalism, for certain exchanges to remain invisible (via accounting manipulations or offshore locations) or, on the contrary, to become visible (see the effect of anti-money laundering laws, the work of the OECD, of NGOs such as Global Witness or the ICIJ, etc)

The second project is devoted to several fields of reflection on Asian globalisation, around a Franco-Japanese “Laboratory for the Critical Analysis of Modernities”, and a book in preparation on Singapore, analysed through the prism of transnational relations.

私の研究は、西洋と旧帝国世界との間のトランスナショナルな知的関係の形成に焦点を当て、19世紀以降、西洋の思想や知識が世界的に広がっていくことによって、共有、または対立する認識論的空間がどのように形成されてきたかを検証してきました。私はこのプロセスに関与したネットワーク（主に知識人と学生の流通）を研究し、非西洋的な認識論的伝統の無効化、ヨーロッパ的な知識体への置き換え、後者の論争につながっている埋め込まれた論理を分析してきました。この点で、西洋の知識のグローバル化を研究することは、いわゆる「科学の脱植民地化」の試みから、21世紀のアジアの台頭に伴う非西洋的認識論の肯定に至るまで、西洋の思想と科学への急進的な問いかけが見られた様々な瞬間を考慮に入れることでもあります。最近は、トランスナショナルの問題に関連した2つの研究プロジェクトを始めました。最初のプロジェクトは共同研究で、原材料を巡る政治をテーマにしています。グローバル経済・政治の中で取引される石油、綿花、リチウムなどの商品の流通を追い、これらの商品が何らかの政治の形を生み出すという仮説を立てています。そのため、今日の原材料を巡る政治を形成するアクター（商人、軍閥、農民組合など）、技術（パイプライン、タンカー、データなど）、力関係を分析に取り組んでいます（セミナー「Raw Materials Politics」のオンラインビデオにアクセスするには、ここをクリックしてください）。2つ目のプロジェクトは、アジアのグローバリゼーションに関するもので、モダニティを批判的に分析する日仏の研究と、トランスナショナルな関係という観点からシンガポールを分析した本（出版予定）を中心に行っています。
